Dr. Krishna Kumar is a distinguished Clinical Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatric Cardiology at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center, Cochin. He holds a postgraduate degree in cardiology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and completed fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at Children’s Hospital Boston, USA (1994-1996). With a focus on echocardiography, catheter interventions and intensive care, Dr. Kumar’s clinical expertise meets the unique needs of the children Children’s HeartLink India Foundation aims to serve. Under his leadership, the pediatric heart program at Amrita Hospital received prestigious accolades such as the BMJ award for quality improvement (2014) and became the first-ever Children’s HeartLink Center of Excellence worldwide. Dr. Kumar research interests focus on pediatric heart disease epidemiology and developing cost-effective clinical strategies for low-resource settings. He actively contributes to international committees, including the International Quality Improvement collaborative on Congenital Heart Disease and the American Heart Association's Rheumatic Fever, Endocarditis and Kawasaki Disease Committee.
